Access the web to cut mobile costs
A new website has been set up to help people cut the cost of using their mobile phones abroad.
The site has been developed by the European Commission and reveals all the tariffs of all the mobile operators in the European Union.
The website is part of the commission's plans to provide greater transparency over all mobile phone networks and tackle the high costs for European citizens to make or receive calls from outside their home country.
"The commission aims to give the consumer the knowledge to make an informed choice, to enhance competition in the industry and to encourage fairer and clearer pricing," explains Viviane Reding, the EU's information society and media commissioner.
The commission will continue to work closely with national regulators to monitor the cost of mobile roaming and eventually drive down the prices.
